God, be the solution.
#9. Make Disciples
My Saturday morning Starbucks blogs have been on a bit of a hiatus over the past couple of weeks as I very remissly allowed less important things steal my time. As part of a plan to become a more disciplined person, I'm jumping back on the bandwagon and making sure I have time to reflect at least once a week. Squeezing in right under the deadline, I want to continue reflecting on my Passion experience.
One thing that was continuously pressed in on in Atlanta (and over and over again since I've been home) is the concept of making disciples who make disciples. Our goal as Christians should be to always spread the news of Jesus. We are called to glorify God and make His name known. I think we all realize that calling. But do we actually understand and act upon the weight of that responsibility? Every person we meet has a soul, and every person we meet will spend eternity somewhere. What are we doing to make sure that somewhere is Heaven?
How does knowing that you were once spiritually dead change the way you think about what God has done for you? How does that change the way you act toward others? How does that redefine your purpose in life? The only thing that Jesus went to the cross for was people - and that includes you. Remembering that, we need to go to the world with the attitude that Christ had going to the cross. Imagine what the world would be like if we did that. The true solution to the hate, violence, destruction, war, economy, etc. in this world is Jesus. It's sharing His love and raising up leaders who truly serve Him.
We can do this thing if we refuse to be reserved. At times things will be messy, hard, and frustrating. But we can not fear something that He already defeated for us. I want to be a person who is never afraid or ashamed, and I hope you do as well. The only way the despair and ugliness of this world will ever change is if heart change happens. We need to understand that the true solution is spreading the news of Jesus and creating disciples who create disciples.
